Meet The Cat’s Pajamas, a meaningful addition to the Giving Collection — a series of special-edition crochet patterns where 100% of proceeds are donated to charitable causes.
This design reaches back to the very beginning of my crochet journey. Long before Fat Lady Crochet existed, there was Pippin Cat Crochet, named after our tiny grey rescue cat, Pippin, who joined our family in 2010. She was the inspiration behind my earliest sketches and one of the first characters I ever imagined in yarn.
After Pippin’s passing in November 2025, it felt like the right time to finally bring her to life as a finished design and share her story with the community that has supported my work for so many years.
The Cat’s Pajamas features a sweet, pajama-clad kitty with striped jammies and tiny bunny slippers. It is designed to be approachable, thoughtfully constructed, and full of heart.
This pattern is a love letter to the cat who started it all. By purchasing this design, you are helping honor her memory while directly supporting charitable causes through the Giving Collection.
What You’ll Receive
You will receive a detailed, photo-supported PDF crochet pattern to create a cat measuring approximately 6 inches tall. The design is worked mostly in one piece, with separate arms and tail for straightforward assembly and a clean, polished finish.
The basic written instructions are also available free on the blog, and a full video tutorial is available on YouTube for those who prefer visual guidance.
Materials
• 30 grams each of Size 3 (DK) yarn in two colours for fur and stripes
• 15 grams of Size 3 (DK) yarn in white
• Scrap amounts of DK yarn in black and pink
• 3.00 mm crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Fiber fill
• Stitch marker
Pattern Notes
The legs, body, and head are worked in one continuous piece from the bottom up. The pattern is worked in continuous rounds; do not join unless instructed. Place a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round.
The arms and tail are worked separately and sewn on. Stuff firmly, but avoid overfilling so the stuffing does not show through the stitches.
Finished size is approximately 6 inches tall, depending on yarn choice and tension.
