This crochet pattern is for both the Grimace cushion cover and a little Grimace doll to fit into the pocket of the cushion! Does it get better than this?
An original pattern by Fat Lady Crochet. Please note: this is a crochet pattern, not the finished physical item. If you were hoping for a real Grimace, I admire your optimism, but this won’t satisfy your fast-food cravings.
This easy (but not beginner) crochet pattern is written in US terms and is designed for crocheters who know their way around a hook, can count past ten without using their fingers, and don’t mind a bit of sewing. Lots of photos are included to guide you along the way, because I like to set you up for success, not suffering.
You will need:
- 300 grams each of size 4 worsted weight yarn in Light Purple and Dark Purple
- 30 grams each of size 4 worsted weight yarn in Black, White
- Scrap amount of size 4 worsted weight yarn in Red
- Crochet hooks: size 6.00 mm (J hook) and size 4.00 mm (G hook)
- Tapestry needle (aka your tiny weapon against loose ends)
- Fiber Fill (so your Grimace isn’t just a sad pile of yarn)
- Stitch marker (unless you enjoy living dangerously)
- 2 small black safety eyes (ONLY if the piece is intended for people over 3 years of age)
- Premade 14" x 14" cushion form
- White acrylic paint for eye shine
Notes:
- The cushion cover and pocket are worked using 2 strands of yarn held together and with the larger hook.
- The facial features and pocket are worked separately and then sewn on.
- Pocket Pal Grimace is worked in continuous rounds.
- Pocket Pal Grimace’s arms and legs are worked separately and attached later.
- Pocket Pal Grimace is roughly 4.5 inches tall, making him the perfect little buddy to tuck into his cushion pocket or perch on your shelf in all his glorious purpleness.
