Meet The Cat’s Pajamas: A Crochet Pattern Close to My Heart

Trish Hoskin

I’m happy to share The Cat’s Pajamas (with bunny slippers!), the newest design in the Giving Collection—a small series of crochet patterns created to support charitable causes. This one holds a very special place in my heart, because its story began all the way back when my crochet journey first started.

The Story Behind the Design

This little pajama-wearing cat, dressed in striped jammies and tiny bunny slippers, is inspired by Pippin, our tiny grey rescue cat from 2010. She was the namesake behind my first business, Pippin Cat Crochet, and the muse for many early ideas I sketched when I was just learning to design.

After Pippin passed in November 2025, I wanted to make tiny Pippins for my daughters' Christmas stockings... and then I remembered this design. I hope you are as charmed as I am by it!

About the Pattern

The blog includes the basic written instructions for making a 6-inch-tall Cat’s Pajamas amigurumi. It’s a straightforward version—just the essentials, without extra notes or photos.

For those who prefer more detailed guidance, there is also a premium PDF available. It includes step-by-step photos, additional notes, and expanded support, and 100% of proceeds are donated to a charity of my choice as part of the Giving Collection.

A full video tutorial is also available on YouTube for anyone who likes to follow along visually.
