Welcome to Stitch, Please!

Welcome to Stitch, Please!

Trish Hoskin

Welcome to Stitch, Please!, the blog that’s here to untangle the threads of running a crochet business. Whether you're hustling hard at craft fairs, managing an Etsy shop, or dreaming of leaving your 9-to-5 behind for a life of yarn-fueled creativity, this space is for you.

Let’s be real: selling crochet isn’t all warm fuzzies and perfectly tensioned stitches. It’s pricing debates, marketing decisions, and trying to explain to your uncle why you can’t just “charge for the cost of yarn.” (Spoiler: because we’re not a charity, Uncle Bob.)

Why Start This Blog?

I’ve been in the crochet business game for over two decades. I’ve designed patterns, taught classes, sold finished goods, and built a brand that lets me pay the bills doing what I love. Along the way, I’ve made every mistake in the book (and maybe a few new ones). Now, I’m sharing the lessons I’ve learned, so you don’t have to untangle those knots alone.

What You Can Expect

Here’s a little sneak peek of what’s coming:

Pricing Without Panic: How to confidently charge for your work without undercutting yourself.

Marketing That Doesn’t Suck: Practical ways to stand out in a sea of yarn.

Behind the Scenes: Honest looks at the good, the bad, and the tangled of running a crochet biz.

Real Talk: Why “exposure” won’t pay your bills and other hard truths.

Let’s Get Hooked

Starting or growing your crochet business can feel overwhelming, but you’re not alone. My goal is to give you actionable advice, a good laugh, and the confidence to take your business to the next level—even if that just means telling Uncle Bob where he can stick his “cost of yarn” comments.

Thanks for stopping by. Let’s make some magic (and money) happen together. Until next time, keep stitching and keep believing in your worth. Stitch, please!

What the heck one more comment from this guy. I had an afterthought. I’m not too sure if you’ve ever used AI before, but there’s an app called Remini. It’s a not so cheap photo app that lets you do different things argument photos one of my favorites is taking a picture and turning it into crochet. Just thought I’d pass that on. You might find it cute or you may find a business angle where people could take a selfie of themselves and swap it with the app and put themselves into crochet, and you can crochet your customers! Shoot me an email and I’ll send you a picture of a couple of my families that I’ve “crocheted”😂😂

Hi Trish, get some cool stuff soon as I get some cash I will certainly buy some. I didn’t need to post this but I couldn’t find an email here for you so I just thought I would do this year. Jackie Nelson gave your name and she said that you may be able to help me price out some old crochet and other stuff. I’m considering trying to become an eBay reseller. Ha ha ha ha. And I thought I’d start with my collection of tablecloths, pottery and old dishes. I have a collection that would put a 70-year-old woman to shame lol. Anyways wondering if you wouldn’t mind giving me some assistance in identifying or pricing some fabric and crochet. Write me an email or shoot me a text at 250-470-8904. Thank you very much and… While I was doing my research on eBay reselling, I happen to notice there’s some crazy prices for crocheted bedspreads for doll houses. Food for thought for you they look ridiculously priced and you look pretty talented. Thank you. PS would love to see a captain Spalding doll from Devil’s rejects
