Free Small Crochet Cactus Pattern: A Perfect DIY Project for Any Skill Level

Welcome to our latest DIY project! Today, we're diving into the wonderful world of crochet with a fun and easy pattern: a small crochet cactus. This project is perfect for both beginners and seasoned crocheters looking for a quick and charming craft. Not only does this little cactus make an adorable decoration, but it also makes a thoughtful handmade gift. Let’s get started!

Level: Easy, written in US terms

Materials

• Scrap amounts #4 worsted weight yarn in green, black, pink, yellow
• Crochet hook size G 4.00 mm or size needed to obtain gauge
• Tapestry needle
• Fiber Fill
• 5 inch clay pot
• 3/4 inch button

Gauge

4 sts = 1 inch; 4 rnds = 1 inch (gauge will vary between yarn brands and fiber content)

Notes

• Tiny Cactus is worked in continuous rounds; do not join unless instructed to do so. Place marker in first st of round and move up as work progresses.
• Stuff firmly, but not so the stuffing shows through the stitches.
• The final piece measures roughly 3 inches tall.
• A magic circle may be used to begin if preferred.

Cactus, with Green

Rnd 1: Ch 2, work 9 sc into 2nd ch from hook. Place stitch marker in first st. (9 sts)

Rnd 2: Inc into each st around. (18 sts)

Rnds 3-10: Sc into each st around.  At end of last rnd, join with a sl st in first st.  Fasten off. 

Face

• Eyes: with black yarn and tapestry needle, sew straight sts in an upside down "V," leaving 3 sts between Eyes.
• Mouth: with black yarn and tapestry needle, sew straight sts in a "V" centered between the Eyes.
• Cheeks: with pink yarn and tapestry needle, sew 1 straight st below each Eye.

Flower, with Yellow

Ch 5, join with a sl st in first ch to make a ring.

Into the ring work: [ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, sl st into ring] 5 times (5 petals). Fasten off.

Assembly

• Put a small amount of stuffing into the pot.
• Stuff the finished Cactus.
• Hot glue around the top interior of clay pot and quickly insert stuffed Cactus..
• Hot glue Flower on top of Cactus.
• Hot glue Button on top of Flower.
