I enjoy crocheting small items like this in between my bigger projects. I find it's a nice diversion, and it's great when you can whip up something cute quickly. The ultimate vision I have for these little guys is this: a summer picnic with lots of kids around, and along with your world famous potato and pea salad, you bring a KFC bucket (clean, new... yeah, weird to say something so obvious) filled to the brim with these little drums. As the kids are playing you yell, "Who wants Chicken!" and they all come running for their very own little memento of the day. I'm pretty sure you'll have some adults grabbing one too - I know I would!
This pattern uses the bobble stitch. Wondering how to do that? Here are the instructions:
Bobble: [Yo, insert hook into st and pull up a loop. Yo, insert hook and pull up through two loops]. Repeat until you have 6 loops on hook. Yo, pull through all 6 loops. Ch 1 (does not count as a st).
