The Cat’s Pajamas Crochet Pattern – Free Basic Instructions (Giving Collection Release!)

Trish Hoskin

If you love adorable amigurumi, cozy pajamas, and crochet patterns that give back, you are going to fall in love with The Cat’s Pajamas—the newest design in The Giving Collection. This sweet little pajama kitty, complete with stripes and charming bunny slippers, is a heartfelt pattern inspired by my first business name, my earliest crochet ideas, and a very special real-life cat.

In this post, you’ll find the free basic instructions for crocheting your own Cat’s Pajamas amigurumi. If you want the full premium pattern—with step-by-step photos, detailed notes, assembly guidance, and a fully polished PDF—you can purchase it on the website. 100% of proceeds are donated to charity, making this pattern extra meaningful.

The Story Behind The Cat’s Pajamas and Why This Pattern Means So Much

Long before I had a website, a shop, or a collection of crochet patterns, there was simply an idea, a hook, and a tiny grey rescue cat named Pippin.

Back in 2010, Pippin came into our lives—small, gentle, and full of the soul that only rescue cats seem to carry. I named my first little business Pippin Cat Crochet in her honor, and one of the very first design ideas I sketched was a small cat in pajamas. For years, that drawing lived tucked away in a notebook as my skills grew, my style changed, and my pattern writing became more refined.

Then, in November 2025, our beautiful Pippin passed. And in the weeks that followed, it felt right to bring that early pattern idea to life.

The Cat’s Pajamas is my tribute to her.
A soft, cuddly, pajama-clad amigurumi that celebrates the cat who inspired this entire creative journey.

Every purchase of the premium pattern supports a charity chosen through the Giving Collection, keeping Pippin’s memory tied to kindness and care.

Thank you for supporting rescue stories, small designers, and creative generosity.
